*Absolute beginners, I love you too! Check out my class offerings below to see when the next beginning class starts. They’re never more than 4 people, so I can be sure you get a really solid foundation. And it’s just really nice to be in a small community of adults and teens who are in the same beginning boat.
Upcoming Classes
Improvisation for the Terrified
with Jenna Bean Veatch
Saturday, July 21
12pm – 6pm
Does the idea of jamming with other musicians make you shut down completely, because seriously, what are you supposed to play on a song you don’t already know? Or are you afraid altogether of learning music, maybe because someone told you you’re tone-deaf, or you think you’re too old to begin? This is the class for you! Using both music and movement exercises that gently stretch our comfort zones, we’ll explore what happens when we dive into music without a plan. Some of it will be free-form and some of it will be more structured. Bring any instrument and/or your voice, and a willingness to play.
Registration opens soon.
Write Your First Song!
Saturday, August 18
2pm – 5pm
Registration opens soon.
Beginning Fiddle: Square One!
Mondays
September 10, 17, 24, October 1
6:30 – 8pm
Starting out on fiddle gets a bad rap. The big secret is that squeaks are usually a side-effect of not playing confidently enough, or of missing a few key technical points that are actually fairly simple to master. Let’s get you started making beautiful, confident sounds as quickly as possible, with a posture that supports your long-term health, so you can start making treble in your neighborhood. (Yes, I went there!)
Class + one 45min private lesson: $95

Fiddle Lab: Chops & Backup

September 4, 11, 18, 25
6:30 – 8pm
Class fee: $60

Registration opens soon.

A couple other things:
I do not rent out fiddles, but Quist Violins (360-647-1984) and Piper Music (360-738-7166) both do.
Trade/barter: It never hurts to make an offer. I don’t need much at the moment, but I am always interested in health care services (including wacky hippie things), food (chickens laying more eggs than you can eat?), and bicycle help (fix my bike and/or teach me how?
